eople always say that we are lacking of the eyes of realizing the beautyin life. I can't agree with it anymore. Last week, I woke up very early in themorning, so I decided to take a walk. The street was very quiet and there weremany old people dancing in the square. Without many cars, I realized the citylooked so clean and beautiful. Some coffee shops decorates so well, whichattrated my eyes. The city was coverd by the green trees, which made it a greencity. I liked this feeling so much. At this moment, I found the city was solovely, I just ingored its beauty usually.

youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind ; it is not rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees, it is a matter of the emotions : it is thefreshness ; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life .

youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of theappetite , for adventure over the love of ease. this often exists in a man of 60more than a boy of 20 . nobody grows old merely by a number of years . we growold by deserting our ideals.

years wrinkle the skin , but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul .worry , fear , self –distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust.

whether 60 of 16 , there is in every human being ‘s heart the lure ofwonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of what’s next and the joy of the gameof living . in the center of your heart and my heart there’s a wireless station: so long as it receives messages of beauty , hope ,cheer, courage and powerfrom men and from the infinite, so long as you are young .

when the aerials are down , and your spirit is covered with snows ofcynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old ,even at 20 , but aslong as your aerials are up ,to catch waves of optimism , there is hope you maydie young at 80.

Wefeel we are happiest when we chat and exchange ideas with one another. With myfriends, I know what to treasure, what to tolerate and what to share.

I will never forget my old friends, and I'll keep making new friends. Iwill not be cold and indifferent to my poor friends, and I will show concern forthem, even if it is only a comforting word.

I have a friend named Monty Roberts who owns a horse ranch in San Ysidro.He has let me use his house to put on fund-raising events to raise money foryouth at risk programs.

The last time I was there he introduced me by saying, "I want to tell youwhy I let Jack use my house. It all goes back to a story about a young man whowas the son of an itinerant horse trainer who would go from stable to stable,race track to race track, farm to farm and ranch to ranch, training horses. As aresult, the boy"s high school career was continually interrupted. When he was asenior, he was asked to write a paper about what he wanted to be and do when hegrew up.

quot;That night he wrote a seven-page paper describing his goal of somedayowning a horse ranch. He wrote about his dream in great detail and he even drewa diagram of a 200-acre ranch, showing the location of all the buildings, thestables and the track. Then he drew a detailed floor plan for a4,000-square-foot house that would sit on a 200-acre dream ranch.

quot;He put a great deal of his heart into the project and the next day hehanded it in to his teacher. Two days later he received his paper back. On thefront page was a large red F with a note that read, `See me after class."

quot;The boy with the dream went to see the teacher after class and asked, `Whydid I receive an F?"

quot;The teacher said, `This is an unrealistic dream for a young boy like you.You have no money. You come from an itinerant family. You have no resources.Owning a horse ranch requires a lot of money. You have to buy the land. You haveto pay for the original breeding stock and later you"ll have to pay large studfees. There"s no way you could ever do it.’ Then the teacher added, `If you willrewrite this paper with a more realistic goal, I will reconsider yourgrade.’

quot;The boy went home and thought about it long and hard. He asked his fatherwhat he should do. His father said, `Look, son, you have to make up your ownmind on this. However, I think it is a very important decision for you.’

quot;Finally, after sitting with it for a week, the boy turned in the samepaper, making no changes at all. He stated, `You can keep theF and I"ll keep my dream.""

Monty then turned to the assembled group and said, "I tell you this storybecause you are sitting in my 4,000-square-foot house in the middle of my200-acre horse ranch. I still have that school paper framed over the fireplace."He added, "The best part of the story is that two summers ago that sameschoolteacher brought 30 kids to camp out on my ranch for a week." When theteacher was leaving, he said, `Look, Monty, I can tell you this now. When I wasyour teacher, I was something of a dream stealer. During those years I stole alot of kids’ dreams. Fortunately you had enough gumption not to give up onyours.’"

Don"t let anyone steal your dreams. Follow your heart, no matter what.

“小男孩回到家，仔细的想了好久好久。他问爸爸他究竟该怎么办。爸爸说：这样吧，儿子，这个决定由你自己做吧。但我想，这个决定对你来说也非常的重要”

“思考了整整一周的时间后，小男孩最后还是没有把作业做任何的改动，交了上去。跟老师说：你可以继续给我F的评分，而我却要继续保留我的梦想”

曼迪回过头对大家说：“跟你们说这些是因为你们现在就正坐在我的200英亩大的马场里的一个4000平方英尺的房子里面。那篇高中作业文章我一直留到现在，做了个框架，现在就挂在壁炉的上方。这个故事中，最精彩的部分是两个夏天之前，给我作业评分F的老师带着30个学生来到了我的马场，宿营了一周。当老师即将离开的时候，他说：曼迪，我可以这样跟你说，当我还是你的老师的时候，我简直就是一个盗取别人梦想的人。那些年，我偷了太多孩子的梦想了。让我感到欣慰和幸运的是，你却有足够的魄力和勇气没有放弃你自己的梦想。”
